posture master alphabet

this past weekend the fam and i took a trip to williamsburg, virginia and attended a family wedding. saturday, before all of the festivities took place, we headed to downtown colonial williamsburg for a stroll. we were enchanted by the quaint streets and lovely shops. my most favorite (shop) being the Post Office and Print Shop (of course). it was here that i found this lovely little treasure...

Posture Master Alphabet

a full set (reproduced) of 18th century alphabet cards. these cards are based on an alphabet published in 1782 by Carington Bowles. the typography and illustrations are exquisite. i think they'd be great in a nursery!

find the pretty

as most of you know, i am a graphic designer by day. and recently i was hired by a friend to work on a collaborative project. so, i thought i'd take a moment to share a little bit more of what i do with a recently completed project...

logo, identity + blog consultation for find the pretty

find the pretty is a new interior design, decorating and organizational tips blog. who's behind it? none other than erin slayton hofer-shall, an interior designer based in boston. erin came to me with the idea of a blog, tons of content and an initial color palette but had no idea how to 'show' it all. we worked together, came up with a logo and blog consultation package, brainstormed lots, sent a ton of emails and eventually came up with this toolkit...

Find The Pretty Logo

Find The Pretty Palette

Find ThePretty Plaid

the lotus flower represents erin's vision perfectly. a lotus grows up from the mud into an object of great beauty. it is graphically 'organized' and the full bloom depicts the blooming of thoughts and ideas. the mango + plum palette evolved from mango + indigo, and a hint of lavendar adds dimension and extends the toolkit with supporting pattern elements.

Blog Comp

i passed the blog 'comp' on to her programmer and this is how it all turned out. way to go erin! now, on with the content!
