TIME.SweetBeakerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01982059445443407193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2628383211297697086.post-56223409858790706872010-03-03T20:22:03.500-05:002010-03-03T20:22:03.500-05:00the worst thing i&#39;ve yet had happen was pretty horrible and teaches a second lesson.<br /><br />in april of 2004, my house was burglarized. since i was a phd student at the time, my whole world was on my computer -- papers, research, etc. <br /><br />add to that all the music my hubby and i owned (i guess he was still my fiance back then) and all of our photographs. well, because of the school stuff i was pretty good about backing up. <br /><br />except that when my computer was stolen, the backup DVD was in the computer. and it was also stolen. and i cried and cried and cried.<br /><br />now i back up to an external hard drive that i keep hidden in the house well away from the computer and anything extremely important i also upload to a remote server somewhere (like my web server or my email server) and burn to DVD and put someplace else. i burn all of our music and photos periodically since the burglary and put the DVDs in our safe deposit box.<br /><br />i know. i&#39;m totally freakish about it now. <br /><br />although i still don&#39;t do it as often as i should with all of my design files and all. i create so many new files so often i really ought to back up more often.<br /><br />note to self...julie greenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03753553949885480109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2628383211297697086.post-84298780066931917692010-03-01T17:44:38.005-05:002010-03-01T17:44:38.005-05:00oh my goodness, i&#39;m so glad you had it recovered! this is such a good reminder to back up my files!Ivana | Love Ardentlyhttp://www.loveardently.comnoreply@blogger.com
